Updated Vintage Crochet Patterns
Have you ever updated vintage crochet patterns?
I received a custom request for a vintage crocheted ensemble for a friend’s granddaughter. The original pattern was from the early 1990s, and while it’s pretty cute, it’s outdated. So, I was granted permission to update the pattern to be better-suited to today’s style.
Here is the progress so far.
So, I’m using a Leisure Arts pattern leaflet for a baby layette as a guide for the body of the sweater.
I added a button placket and a scalloped shell stitch edge at the neckline and bottom of the sweater. Since the pattern is for 0-3 months, and I needed a toddler pattern, I changed the hook size and chose a bulkier yarn than indicated in the leaflet.
